'To ask for help is a sign of strength not weakness'. Michelle Obama'

I am a qualified and UKCP registered psychotherapist or counsellor based in Mayfair Central London and Rickmansworth

You reach out to a counsellor at a point in your life when life is stressful and you feel anxious but have nowhere to turn. Counselling is not the same speaking to friends or family. You have no other option but to seek help through therapy.

Are you suffering from depression, stress, anxiety/panic attacks, eating disorders, self-sabotaging behaviours, relationship issues, anger or self -harm and the list goes on. These symptoms are difficult to manage and interfere in your daily life such as your relationships, everyday life, professional life or marriage, you stop socialising and isolating yourself and you don’t know where to turn. Therapy and Counselling can help you find relief.

You don't have to suffer from mental health to seek help from a counsellor. At times you feel lost or question things and need a place to talk and explore what's happening in your life. Counselling can help you to find relief and find a way through.

As a counsellor, I make sure that I have a holding space for you where you feel safe and not judged to speak about what you are going through and what you want to talk about.

I recognise that weekly face-to-face counselling sessions are not always possible for all clients, including busy executives who travel extensively or who are based abroad. My therapy services are tailored for each client to combine personal meetings with Skype and/or phone session and maintain regular contact and to ensure continuity of your counselling.

Professional Qualifications

BSc (Hons) Psychology
MA in Psychoanalysis and Contemporary Psychoanalysis
Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy clinical qualification from The Site for Contemporary Psychoanalysis

Training

I began the early years of my counsellor career working in the Homelessness sector with extremely vulnerable clients suffering from mental health, homeless young adolescents, teenage mothers, domestic violence, self-harm and drug abuse.

My clinical experience includes working at the prestigious Psychiatric Unit of the Maudsley Hospital and being involved in the Schizophrenic Twin Studies project as an assistant research psychologist. I then worked closely with children under the ages on 10 years at an autistic unit in a special needs school and then took up my role as a counsellor with City and Hackney Mind and Psychosis Therapy Project with Islington Mind.

My own extensive personal therapy as part of my counsellor/therapist training has enabled me to gain inner understanding and knowledge of what the psychotherapy journey involves. I understand that taking the first step in counselling can be very daunting but let me assure you, if you are reading this then you have already begin thinking about making a change in your life.

An open approach

A healer is someone who holds space for you while you awaken your inner healer, so that you may heal yourself

An important aspect of being a counsellor is my relationship with you as my client, meaning that with you being comfortable in the counselling or therapy space we can move the work forward and once we commit to the working bond the transformation will begin to happen.

The therapy work usually begins with 'getting to know you'. this is where we discuss why you need counselling and areas you want to focus on and your background. This is so I can get to to know you and for us to look at how we will work together to help you. This can take few initial counselling sessions.

As well as talking in sessions I may every now and again ask you about your dreams, which allows us another perspective into your unconscious. There are times where I may leave you to think about what we have been discussing in the counselling session outside of the therapy room. Thus, enabling you to take the work we are doing outside the counselling space. I may suggest some practical counselling tools you can apply to manage your symptoms. I am open for you to bring texts, art, drawings, books or other creative themes that signify something to you and that we can talk about in our therapy work together.

I am an accredited member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and hold myself to professional codes of ethics and guidance set by them. Thereby assuring the utmost confidentiality to all my clients. I have a full and up to date DBS check

Depression and Anxiety

Mental health concerns such as anxiety can be extremely worrying as they can create a unexplained fear of things, bodily sensations, you can’t stop thinking and worrying about things or unexplained worries to do with health.

Depression can make you lose interest in things you liked doing, you lose your motivation and drive. You feel low, not feel like getting out of bed or meeting friends or family, feel like no one loves. You feel you have a dark cloud hanging over you that you are unable to explain.

Therapy helps you to overcome these unexplained feelings, thoughts and behaviour and make shifts in your life to begin living and flourishing again

Through therapy you become aware of why you are suffering from symptoms associated with depression, anxiety or other mental health will help you to find resources within you to find the reasons why and a way forward
